High-Activity Yeast Nitrate Reductase for Cooler Temperature Lab Testing
YNaR Nitrate Reductase (Yeast) is a high-performance enzyme optimized for nitrate analysis in cooler temperature ranges (2-30°C). With the highest specific activity YNaR on the market, this affinity-purified enzyme delivers reliable, accurate results for laboratories performing nitrate testing in environmental, agricultural, and water quality applications.
This cost-effective alternative to AtNaR provides excellent performance for samples without high salt content or significant organic/humic acid interference.
Product Format
YNaR Nitrate Reductase (Enzyme Only)
- Supplied freeze-dried protein glass with enzyme diluent bulb
- Animal origin free
- Custom unit sizes available upon request
Reaction Principle
YNaR catalyzes the reduction of nitrate (NO₃⁻) to nitrite (NO₂⁻) using NADH as the electron donor.
The generated nitrite can then be quantified using standard colorimetric detection methods.
One unit will reduce 1.0 μmole of nitrate to nitrite per minute in an NADH system at pH 7 ± 0.5 at 30°C.
Key Features
- Optimized for Cooler Temperatures: Effective for analysis run between 2 – 30°C, ideal for laboratories with cooler operating conditions
- Cost-Effective Solution: More economical than AtNaR while maintaining high performance for suitable applications
- Exceptional Stability: Up to 6 months shelf life at room temperature, highly stable in working solution
- Superior Performance: Highest specific activity YNaR on the market with high specificity to reduce false positives
- Quality Assured: Affinity-purified enzyme manufactured under strict QA/QC procedures for lot-to-lot consistency and reliability
- Small sample size in relation to total assay volume
- Little sample preparation required
Important Considerations: YNaR is partially inhibited by NaCl (salt), organic acids, and humic substances. For samples with high salt content (3%+ NaCl) or significant organic/humic acid presence, we recommend using AtNaR Nitrate Reductase instead.
Applications
YNaR, a yeast-expressed nitrate reductase, is designed for:
- On-site testing kits
- Agricultural soil and runoff testing
- Educational laboratories
- Non-regulatory applications
- Low temperature measurements
YNaR is robust and economical, but not approved for Clean Water Act or Safe Drinking Water Act reporting. It remains an excellent option for non-regulatory, field-based, or instructional nitrate testing as well as many other applications.
Please refer to the YNaR Specification Sheet for more detailed information regarding YNaR.
