EPA-Compliant, Cadmium-Free Nitrate Reductase Enzyme for Laboratory Analysis
AtNaR Nitrate Reductase (Arabidopsis thaliana) was developed by NECi in conjunction with the United States Geological Survey (USGS) to replace toxic cadmium used in automated colorimetric nitrate determination methods. The enzymatic nitrate reduction approach aligns with procedures referenced by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under 40 CFR Part 136 for nitrate determination in wastewater and environmental water samples.
This non-toxic, environmentally benign alternative provides reliable nitrate reduction using water-soluble reagents optimized for laboratory analysis.
Product Format
AtNaR Nitrate Reductase (Enzyme Only)
- Supplied as a freeze-dried protein glass with enzyme diluent bulb
- Animal origin free
- Custom unit sizes available upon request
Reaction Principle
AtNaR catalyzes the reduction of nitrate (NO₃⁻) to nitrite (NO₂⁻) using NADH as the electron donor.
The generated nitrite can then be quantified using standard colorimetric detection methods.
One unit will reduce 1.0 μmole of nitrate to nitrite per minute in an NADH system at pH 7 ± 0.5 at 30°C.
