EPA-Compliant, Cadmium-Free Nitrate Reagent Kit for Discrete Analyzers

AtNaR Nitrate Reductase Reagent Packs were developed by NECi in conjunction with the United States Geological Survey (USGS) to replace toxic cadmium used in automated colorimetric nitrate determination methods. The enzymatic nitrate reduction approach aligns with procedures referenced by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under 40 CFR Part 136 for nitrate determination in wastewater and environmental water samples. This method is also included in the California Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ELAP) Field of Accreditation (FOA) tables, enabling laboratories to pursue accreditation using this cadmium-free method.

This non-toxic, environmentally benign alternative provides reliable nitrate reduction using water-soluble reagents optimized for discrete analyzers.

Product Format

AtNaR Nitrate Reductase Reagent Pack for Discrete Analyzers

  • Animal origin free
  • Designed for ThermoFisher Gallery discrete analyzers
  • May be compatible with other discrete analyzers with similar specifications
  • This kit contains only enzyme and co-factor. You will also need assay buffer and Griess reagents to run the assay.

Reaction Principle

AtNaR catalyzes the reduction of nitrate (NO₃⁻) to nitrite (NO₂⁻) using NADH as the electron donor.
The generated nitrite can then be reacted with Griess reagents and quantified using standard colorimetric detection methods.

Key Features

  • Safe & Non-Toxic: Eliminates hazardous cadmium from your laboratory workflow
