Test for nitrate levels in wet livestock feed (green chop, standing hay, and silage) to check for nitrate toxicity. Drought may cause stress in plants, encouraging excess nitrate uptake. Too much nitrate may lead to illness or even death in livestock, especially pregnant and lactating animals or young animals.
Use this kit where sap or a wet extract is available. This kit will detect 0 - 9000 ppm nitrate (0 - 2000 ppm nitrate-N or up to 0.9% N). All you need in addition to this kit is a garlic press or similar apparatus to squeeze plant sap from your samples. Kits are designed to be easy to use, provide accurate and reliable results, and contain no toxic materials.
