Nitrate in Waste Water:

Nitrate levels in waste water being released from a Private Water Treatment facility is required to meet compliance standards.  Generally, the nitrate content of the water must not exceed the US EPA standard for potable water of 10 ppm nitrate-N (10 mg nitrate-N per liter).  When a sample is submitted for compliance testing, if it exceeds the limit, then the submitting treatment facility may be fined or otherwise penalized.  To avoid this situation, cadmium based nitrate testing is often done and this places the treatment facility personnel at health risk due to the use of this toxic chemical.  In addition, the cadmium based nitrate tests often fail with waste water samples. NECi sells a safe alternative nitrate test kit for compliance testing (AW-NTK). NECi AW-NTK always work where other tests fail and will help prevent the submission of a water sample with high nitrate content.
